Ahhh.....the pristine waters of the North Gate Canyon.
Earlier in the season, before the rampant run-off took over for the months of June and now part of July, the cold waters of the canyon were well worth floating and spending a day of fishing. Most years the canyon is best to fish towards the end of May and first parts of June, falling in line with the Salmon fly hatch. 2011 has been a year of tremendous snow pack all over the state of Wyoming, some places exceeding 200% of normal snow pack. Making the Upper North Platte River a destination to wait for until the water starts calming down.

What does this mean for fishing the North Gate Canyon? A later season. For 2011, August will be the time to be out fishing the canyon.
So, a taste of the waters....
